Despicable Me
These are the concept sketches I did for my character Gretel, along with the research. She is german, spunky, more of a hightech criminal than a 'hold up the bank' type, and pretty ditzy. Unlike Gru, she is more apt to show her emotions. She hears about Gru's amazing feat of stealing the moon, and wanting to know his secrets she decides to befriend him. While frequently visiting him, she becomes close to the girls and finds herself putting off her task more often so she can play with them. She shares a love of unicorns with Agnes, an interest in gross things with Edith, and a desire to learn just like Margo. Gru however, remains skeptical of her at first, but seeing how the girls enjoy her company, he begins to as well.
Here are two sculpts I did quickly, within two hours for the first, and about an hour for the second. I attempted an expression on the second. Still needs more work.
