Final Stuff

Latimer, an amateur necromancer, attempted to summon a being from the other side to help not only keep himself safe, but others in a crime infested Chicago. Instead of a guardian, Nanette is brought back. Not knowing why she was chosen, he tries to find ways to put her back. As time goes on however, Nanette decides that being a spirit isn't as bad as she thought, and feels as if she got a second chance. On the side of the dead however, the demon Naomi knows a soul has been taken from it's original destination.

Her job is to bring that soul back at any cost, and as punishment for straying she takes ownership of them. Most endure eternal torture, some are slaves, and then there are the few who somehow escape. Learning that this soul was taken by force however, Naomi decides to end Latimer's life. In need of help, Latimer goes to an old friend (literally), Rafiq Haroun, a spirit who never left his grave. From here all the advice he is given is to find part of Naomi's blood line here in the city.

Not long after Nanette runs away from Latimer, angry after a fight they had just had. She stumbles into an apartment deep in Chicago. Knowing no human can see here, she decides to stay here for awhile. When the owner comes home however, he is able to see her. At first Nanette thinks he was sent by Naomi, but learns it is her brother Cedric. He had been in exile for some time now, but is still able to see the supernatural such as ghosts, demons, and more. Having knowledge of how to defeat his sister and keep both Latimer and Nanette alive, or in Nanette's case safe, he agrees to help them.

Along the way, Latimer's neighbor Godfried and his dog Fluffy constantly spy on him. Though they can't see Nanette, they can definitely see Cedric and Naomi when she stops by to give the two misfits a warning. Godfried can come in handy, only sometimes. His constant spying and note taking reminds Latimer of important details in his life that he can use to stop Naomi, such as a special amulet.

With one goal in mind, Latimer and Nanette have to destroy Naomi somehow to prevent an eternal life of suffering.

Ideation for Monsters

Not sure who's going to make the cut here...I like them all! For the 'males', one is going to be the design for the small demons, and the big one is going to be...a big demon. No names for them yet, but the big demon is neat looking so far.

For the females, one is based off of a deer / moose / human mix, with four arms (subject to change), and the other based off of the angler fish, one of my favourite deep sea fishies. :) Her proportions are a bit off, but that is an easy fix for later.

Ideation for Final Project

First, quick outline of my story.

Latimer, a necromancer in practice, decides to resurrect a spirit to help him act as a sort of 'bodyguard' at night. He secretly wants to help prevent crime in the city of Chicago, and what better way to do it than use those already dead? The day he buys the books, a girl runs into him, which causes him to drop them all. He barely catches a glimpse at her, but in a few days he'll know he ran into Nanette. Since he started the resurrection ritual, he had his sunglasses on in order to avoid direct eye contact with the spirit. Because the eyes are said to be the window to the soul, that eye contact could result in his being sucked out of him from a spirit, whether intensional or not.

Nanette's soul is brought back, though why her's was chosen Latimer can't figure out. It is possible that since she was the last person to physically touch him by running into him a connection was made, but this is just a theory. No one else can see her except for Latimer, those from the other side, and people who she allows to see her, such as during hauntings. Nanette has the ability to travel through shadows and cause people to hallucinate for as long as she wants. She is also able to protect Latimer from small evil spirits by absorbing their souls with a single breath.

Naomi is in charge of the soul's passage to the other side. She is similar to a female version of Satan. When a soul goes missing, she goes to find it and take it back by any means necessary. At this point, they are no longer allowed to arrive to their original destination and stay in her possession for eternity. When she finds out that one was taken by her through weak magic, she decides to end Latimer's life to prevent him from doing it again, as well as regain the soul that now belongs to her.

Here are some sketches of the characters so far. Naomi's design is pretty much set, while Latimer and Nanette still need a lot of work.

Ideas for Cottage and Treehouse

Some ideas for my tree house, which is going to be a ribcage stuck in a rotting tree trunk. I'm sure something (or someone) will want to hang out there at some point in time. The cottages are just some sketches. I like the bottom left corner and top right corner. Not sure which I'll do yet...Victorian house is being spewed out of my brain right now.

She protects the desert, but being a goddess, she is able to get others to lay down their lives for her.

Ship and Group Picture

Still working on color....

----
Ship: This is her mode of transportation, though used only when the Elephant Goddess has to cover long distances in a short amount of time. There is a large window in both the front and back, and extra lights on the long poles on the side to help her see during sand storms. No one has entered it but her.

Sidekick and Main Character

Spider: Sidekick. Acts as a 'wallflower' for the Elephant Goddess. Gentle, but protective of his master.
Elephant Goddess: Goddess off the desert. When she speaks, her voice comes from all directions. She is kind, quiet, and smart. She likes to help those who are lost in the desert find their way to safety.

Drucilla

Her name is changed to Drucilla. She's dark, spunky, and her moods change faster than Michigan weather. The Ringmaster was the last person who encountered her angry side, and no one's seen him since. His whip however, remains in possession of Drucilla. It has never left her side, and she is most often seen with it wrapped around her arm or neck. Some of her "co-workers" think she keeps it as a trophy...
